For the eleventh consecutive year Casa Guatemala will present Human Rights Awards, to five individuals from the Chicago area who have committed themselves selflessly to the improvement of the human conditions of Guatemalans and Latinos in Guatemala, Latin America and in the United States.
The five individuals chosen by Casa Guatemala's Board of Directors and other members for the honor this year are:
Adriana Portillo-Bartow, Founder and current Director of Where Are The Children? (WATCH)
Tim Bell, Coordinator of the Education Program at Erie House
Aida Giachello, Ph.D., Founder and Director of the Midwest Latino Health Research, Training and Policy Center at University of Illinois at Chicago
Rodrigo Carramiñana, Ph.D., Director of the Latino Cultural Center at University of Illinois at Chicago
Salvador Cerna, from Congressman Luis Gutierrez' Office
