Carlos Gomez Lopez, a trade union leader, was pulled from a bus by the
Guatemalan military at this location, near Quetzaltenango, in 1993. He was shot
and left for dead . He didn't die. Instead, he has pressed his case
against the Guatemalan government. The Inter-American Commission on Human
Rights has ruled in his favor against the Guatemalan Government.
