Voices of the Americas is a multicultural series that aims at bridging the gap between distinct social justice struggles in the Chicago area, with a special emphasis on Latin America.
After the great success of the April event: Noche Boricua, the series continues this May 29, with a celebration of the struggle of the Chilean people to achieve justice in their homeland after the arrest of former dictator Augusto Pinochet in London. "Noche Andina" will feature the renowed Andean folkloric musical group Machu-Pichu, Chilean poet Lito Barraza and Coordinator of the Permanent Committee for Chile, Mario Venegas. Also performing that day will be: Konojel Junam Marimba
Voices of the Americas features local visual, musical and word artists who are dedicated to a just and equal, multicultural, multilingual society.
